Devil in the White City

The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed AmericaI fell in love with this book. It's all about architecture and landscape design with a back drop of a serial killer. I really just was amazed at what Chicago was able to create with the World's Fair. The photos and history behind the creation of the Fair makes you remember what a society can do in a positive way if they put their minds to it. And why is it that our generation is so sluggish compared to the generations before us.

The Tenth Circle

The Tenth Circle: A NovelNot one of my favorite books by Jodi Picoult. I didn't like the comics in the book, I skipped over all of them. I also kind of felt like it just ended... I guess I like more of a finale! If you're new to Jodi Picoult, don't start with this book. Start with My Sister's Keeper or Nineteen Minutes. Both are great books!

Thunderstruck

ThunderstruckI enjoyed all the history of the turn of the century. I had read his earlier book. The plot is really a background story to the history of the 1900s. So if you like history and need a little murder mystery to get through a story I suggest it.

A Death in Belmont

A Death in Belmont (P.S.)This book really didn't keep my attention. It was hard for me to finish. I thought it would have more details about the crimes than it did. I'm sort of a serial killer and history buff and this book really didn't give enough detail to keep me interested.

Water for Elephants

Water for Elephants: A NovelI was hoping this book was going to be a little more scandalous than it turned out to be...I liked the story, but the way they treated animals back in the 1930's was a little hard to read. Overall a good read.

The Book of the Dead

The Book of the Dead (Pendergast, Book 7)This book ends the trilogy of Preston and Child that includes Brimstone and Dance of Death finally finding out what happens to our fateful Agent Pendergast. I am a die hard fan of anything these guys write and have been reading everything since The Relic came out all those many years ago. Not once have I lost interest in the story or the characters and I cannot wait from book to book on what the outcomes are going to be. This book does not disappoint with a combination of crime thriller, ancient Egyptian curses, and prison break story. What more could you want? It may seem difficult to combine all of these story lines into a cohesive whole but in reality it works and it works well. Here is looking forward to the recently release Wheel of Darkness.
